Internet Safety
The internet is amazing — here are 6 rules to stay smart, kind, and safe online.
1. Keep your personal info private
Never share your full name, home address, phone number, school name, or passwords with strangers online. Even photos can give away where you live.
2. Tell a grown-up if something feels wrong
If a message, picture, or website makes you feel uncomfortable, scared, or confused — tell a parent, teacher, or trusted adult right away. You won't get in trouble.
3. Be kind online
Words on a screen can hurt just as much as words spoken out loud. Don't say anything online that you wouldn't say to someone's face. If you see bullying, don't join in — tell an adult.
4. Use strong passwords
A good password is at least 8 characters long and has letters, numbers, and symbols. Don't use your name or birthday. Never share passwords — not even with your best friend.
5. Not everything online is true
Anyone can post anything on the internet. If a story sounds weird, too good to be true, or scary — check with a trusted adult or a reliable source before believing or sharing it.
6. Take screen breaks
Staring at screens too long hurts your eyes and body. Follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Go outside and play!
