1Naming Colors

Colors make our world bright and beautiful. The main colors are red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, pink, brown, black, and white.

Look at the pictures. Each color has a name. Say each name out loud as you point to it. Color words are some of the first words we learn.

2What Is a Pattern?

A pattern is something that repeats. Red, blue, red, blue, red, blue — that is a pattern. You can guess what comes next because the pattern tells you.

Patterns help us predict. If you see ⭕🔺⭕🔺⭕, you know the next shape is 🔺. Math is full of patterns — once you start seeing them, you see them everywhere!

3Make Your Own Patterns

Try making patterns with anything: toys, leaves, colored blocks. Start simple: apple, banana, apple, banana. Then make it trickier: red, red, blue, red, red, blue.

Patterns can be colors, shapes, sounds, or movements. Clap-stomp-clap-stomp is a pattern. The more patterns you make, the stronger your math brain becomes.
